Memory manufacturer Micron has expanded the high-frequency wide memory (HBM) business version at an unprecedented speed, not only setting a record financial record, but also showing clear ambitions and forward-lookingness in the HBM market, with the goal of becoming the key leader of HBM soon.

According to reports from Korean media ZDnat Korea, Micron announced on May 26 that the third quarter of the 2025 conference year (i.e. March to May 2025) will perform far-supermarket expectations, creating the best record, with operating revenue of US$9.3 billion and operating profit of US$2.49 billion, significantly exceeding market expectations.

Microphone HBM business showed amazing growth and dynamics, with revenue surged by about 50% compared with the previous quarter, mainly benefiting from the latest HBM3E's 12-layer stacking products. HBM3E's 12-layer stacking product yield and production volume have been successfully developed, with a large number of shipments of four customers and important cooperative customers. For example, AMD announced the latest GPU-MI355X that adopts Micron HBM3E 12-layer stacking products.

Microtron is confident in HBM's future position and sets an active target. By the end of the year, the market share of HBM will increase to 23%~24%, maintaining the same level as DRAM market share. Micron estimates that the goal may even be achieved faster. It shows that Micron has accurately judged its strength, capacity and market demand.

Microtron estimates that the global HBM market will have explosive growth, nearly double the US$18 billion in 2023, reaching US$35 billion in 2024, which is consistent with Micron's market outlook and India certifies HBM as the key position of the core memory component of the AI era.

In addition to the success of HBM3E, Micron also showed strong confidence in the next generation of HBM4. HBM4 will be fully produced in the second half of the year as soon as possible, and is expected to account for a considerable proportion of the HBM market in 2026, and will be built on the NVIDIA (NVIDIA) Rubin architecture GPU that leads the development of AI industry.

Microphone HBM4 has been developing very smoothly and is delivering reviews from multiple customers to obtain satisfactory rewards. The HBM4 design basis is a fully certified 10-nanometer 1b process DRAM, with both performance and power efficiency. Micron is confident that HBM4 will continue to be the first generation.
