Atletico Madrid president: No hot water at Emirates Stadium? I bathe myself with cold water to qualify for the target group
Atletico Madrid Chairman Cerezo was interviewed before the team's Champions League away game against Arsenal. He talked about the team's "little episode" when there was no hot water after training at the Emirates Stadium, his outlook for the game and the club's new director Alemany, among other topics.
On the issue of no hot water after the team’s training
Cerezo: Just a few hours a day (without hot water) is not a big deal. There is no need to pay too much attention to these small things. Hey, I bathe myself in cold water. So nothing. I've just arrived now. I realize now that the water here doesn't seem to be hot, but that's okay.
Are you surprised by this "little trick"?
Celezo: Well, technology has these problems. You're going to take a plane tomorrow, and something goes wrong and the plane won't take off. I encountered this situation myself when I came here. The plane was delayed and I didn't say anything.
Will this problem occur at MetLife Stadium?
Celezo: It’s unbelievable that you asked me this question. We have the best stadium in the world. So you can't ask me if the water is hot or cold.
What do you think of the game against Arsenal?
Celezo: This is one of the most important games of the season, and to be honest it is a pity not to have the second leg in Madrid. But okay, this is the Champions League now and we have to get a good result here to be able to move on and achieve our goal, which is to qualify from the group.
On the experience at Anfield (or other English stadiums):
Celezo: We always have a good feeling. And, you know, these courses are generally pretty good to us. Hopefully we can get a good result today, which we certainly did recently.
About Alvarez
Celezo: He is a great player, he knows the Premier League very well, has played here for many years, and I think he will fight for wins and goals as usual.
About the new director Alemanni
Celezo: He will help with recruitment. Well, Alemany is a great professional and we have been following him for some time to join us and we finally managed to get him here a few days ago.
How will Carlos Busero (General Manager of Football) and Alemanni work together?
Celezo: Well, like all marriages, a happy, problem-free coexistence. Like a good marriage. We are not looking forward to divorce.
Will there be more signings?
Celezo: Of course. If we can find good players and they can come and play with us, there is no doubt that we will have more players.
Regarding complaints about the Miami game (La Liga overseas game)
Cerezo: In order not to rush, I will express my opinion after the Miami game is played. When the game is over and played, I will give my opinion. Until then, what can I say?
On revenue distribution for Miami games
Cerezo: I have absolutely no idea, we're not involved in that. They didn't tell us anything about how much they would charge there.
