Former Bayern defender Boateng said on his personal social media that he has played for big clubs and national teams for a long time.

Boateng said: "I played for a long time, played for many big clubs, fought for my country. I learned a lot, won and lost. Football gave me a lot of things. It's time to move forward, not because I have to do it, but because I'm ready. I'm grateful for everything. Thanks to my team, the fans and the people who support me. The most important thing is my family and children, who have been by my side."

In his 20-year career, Boateng has played for Hamburg, Manchester City, Bayern, Lyon, Sarenitana, Linz, and won two Champions League titles with Bayern 12/13 and 19/20. In his German career, Boateng has played 76 times for the team and won the 2014 World Cup championship with the team.
