I have a virtuous wife, Lu Xiaopang! Rooney: If Colleen hadn t been, I might have been out of this world due to alcoholism
A few days ago, on Ferdinand's podcast program "Rio Ferdinand Presents", Rooney admitted that he had drunk too much back then. If he had not had his wife Colleen's support, he might have been gone.
Rooney said: "I just wanted to go out with my friends and enjoy the nightlife. But then things went too far. It was a time of serious struggle with alcohol in my life. I didn't feel able to ask anyone for help or put the burden on others." In December 2011, Rooney was abandoned by Ferguson for violating a curfew to visit the Southgate cocktail bar at night; in November 2016, he publicly apologized to England coach Southgate for "inappropriate photos" at the wedding party during his training camp in the national team. Rooney also admitted that he had been to the club for two consecutive days of alcoholism, "apple eye drops and chewing gum to cover up his condition", but he still scored a goal on the weekend.
When Ferdinand asked him who helped him get out of the predicament, Rooney thanked his wife without hesitation: "Colin means a lot to me. We are all children from Liverpool Croxter, and we grew up together, and then we started dating, getting married, and having children. She saw early on that I was in a wrong state and helped me control myself. To be honest, if it weren't for her, I would have died. I really think so."

"She has been with me for more than 20 years and kept me on the right path. Although it makes me irritated sometimes, looking back, everything she does is to make me live and become a better person."
