Ian Rush: Salah should be 100% of Liverpool s vice captain

Liverpool legend Ian Rush supports Salah as deputy captain after Arnold's transfer to Real Madrid.

club captain Van Dijk was previously deputy with Arnold, and the England international was appointed deputy captain by Klopp two years ago during the preseason in Liverpool in Singapore. But the position is currently open with Arnold transferring to Real Madrid for £10 million in early June.

In the recent friendly against Preston, Salah wore the captain's armband. When head coach Slot makes the final decision before the start of the new Premier League season, the Egyptian captain is likely to be one of the main candidates to replace Arnold.

Rash, who maintained the club's historical scorer record with 346 goals, believes that Salah is an ideal model for taking on this responsibility in the future. "There is no doubt that Salah is still the core, and I was really happy when he renewed his contract."

"In the first half of last season, his performance was incredible, and the second half was more reflected in assists. He is changing his game. What I appreciate most is that since his shoulder injury in 2018, you can see his physique that he will not be injured easily. His desire for success always exists, and when you talk to him, you will find that he is still learning. What he is most valuable now is that he is still helping young players."

"He will tell young people, 'If you want to achieve this goal, you have to do this'. He motivates young players through his own experience, and if you want to achieve Salah, you have to make corresponding efforts. Must train hard, these details are often overlooked, but he does a great job."

"That's why I'm happy for him to renew his contract for two years. Observe his performance, you will make up for your weakness at the age of 28 or 29, and you will play the advantage after 30. I think Salah is doing this, and his help to young players off the court is often underestimated."

"He should be 100% of the time, and he has worn armbands when he faces Preston? Van Dijk is as good as ever and is the leader of the backline. And as the core of the front line, Salah leads by example, just like when I first joined the team, and when I helped Fowler when Robbie Fowler entered the first team."

"You have to incorporate this heritage, it's not a competitive relationship, it's mutual achievement. Daglish helps me, I help Fowler, and that's the spirit of the club. You're not competing with your teammates, but winning honors for the club."
