Premier League CEO Richard Masters confirmed that Premier League clubs will vote next month whether to abolish the current profit and sustainable development rules (PSR) and replace them with a new "line-up cost ratio" system similar to UEFA's regulations.

About whether the Premier League will change the current Profit and Sustainable Development Rules (PSR)

We are discussing an alternative system with our club. This is not to say that we don't think the PSR system works.

Can you talk about this alternative in detail?

This is to be more closely integrated with European regulations, i.e. lineup cost ratio, which is a revenue-based test. PSR is a retrospective profitability test that has its own advantages and disadvantages. No system will be perfect.

Where has this decision been taken?

We have to keep these things balanced and continue to have conversations with our club, which is an important decision, so we should take the time to get it done. But this decision is coming soon. How will the new regulations help Premier League clubs stay competitive?

In UEFA...the current ceiling is 70%. Our system will be 85% because we always want our clubs to have the ability to invest.

How do you view the 85% cap in the Premier League compared to other European leagues?

So, when you compare the 85% system of the Premier League (if implemented) with other major European leagues, you will find that our system is looser, and some may even say it is too loose... The Premier League is based on investment, with international capital flowing in continuously. We don't want this to be stifled.
