According to The Athletic, Manchester City has reached a principled agreement with team defender Ruben Dias on a contract extension.

28-year-old Dias' current contract ends in 2027. The report said that Manchester City and the defender have reached an agreement in principle and that the two sides will sign a new contract.

Diaz joined Manchester City for a transfer fee of £62 million in 2020, and became an important part of Manchester City's success: he won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup with the team.

Since joining the franchise, Dias has made a total of 222 appearances for Manchester City (contributing 4 goals), of which 41 appearances last season.

Before Dias's contract renewal, Manchester City had completed the contract renewal with the leading striker Haaland and the team's coach Guardiola.
