US chip manufacturer Intel announced a series of high-level personnel outreach Monday, including the departure of product director Michelle Johnston Holthaus. Currently, executive chairman Lip-Bu Tan has stepped up efforts to reverse the troubled American chip manufacturer's operations, and these personnel changes are seen as one of Chen Liwu's actions to further reform the company's operations.

According to Reuters' reports, Michelle Johnston Holthaus has worked at Intel for more than 30 years. She has served as several senior leaders, including a temporary co-executive position after former executive Pat Gelsinger left in 2024. However, although the personnel adjustment order has been issued, Michelle Johnston Holthaus will still be the strategic adviser in the next few months.

Based on previous reports, Chen Liwu is seeking the leader of the flat company to allow most important chip business groups to report directly to him. At the same time, he is also using layoffs to operate in a simplified manner, with these actions aimed at improving the company's efficiency and adaptability as the main purpose, in order to compete with the increasingly fierce market.

The report said that in order to strengthen its core business, Intel said on Monday that Kevork Kechichian, a senior semiconductor industry expert, has joined the company and served as deputy president of the executive and general manager of the data center. Kevork Kechichian is from Arm, who served as Vice President of Engineering for the company, and has worked at NXP Semiconductors and Qualcomm, with extensive industry experience. And his joining is expected to bring new vitality and technical expertise to Intel's data center business.

In addition, Intel has announced other changes, including the establishment of a new central engineering group, which will be led by senior vice president Srinivasan Iyengar. Srinivasan Iyengar will establish a new customized chip business in its new position to serve a wide range of external customers. The industry notes that this action represents Intel's search for new sources of revenue and leverages its technical expertise to meet the needs of specific customers.

In addition, in terms of personnel planning, Naga Chandrasekaran, executive vice president and technical and manager of Intel Foundry Services, will be expanded, including OEM services business, with the goal of integrating OEM services strategies and operations to enhance his competitiveness in the OEM market. Meanwhile, Jim Johnson has been appointed as the general manager of Intel's customer computing business. These high-level job adjustments and expansions reflect Intel's strategic focus and organizational optimization during the transition period.
