According to Japanese media reports, some people shared that her mother, who is over 70, became rapidly deteriorated after she was discharged from the hospital, and she finally couldn't get up and passed away. Her 86-year-old father had completely different old age life, which made her feel mixed feelings. In this regard, Dr. Akisu Nakamura explained why there is such a difference from his years of experience in caring for family elderly care.

The mother is lighter than her father and older faster

A citizen shared the story of her mother in her 70s, saying that her mother grew up in a wealthy family in the rural area. She moved to Chengcheng with her husband in her later years, but her mother did not like to go out and always stayed at home to watch TV during the day.

My daughter once asked her mother to not stay at home forever and to go out for more walks and communicate with others, but her mother still did not change her habit of being at home. Later, her mother was seriously ill and hospitalized. Although she could go home to rest after the surgery, the doctor also reminded her that she needed to exercise more physical activities.

However, although the mother was willing to undergo rehabilitation, she refused to go to the Day Care Center and chose to stay at home. After the rehabilitation process, the mother's hip and legs quickly deteriorated. She couldn't get up after about two years, and even suffered from dementia. She finally died at the age of 74.

On the contrary, although my father is 85 years old, he still remains energetic. Even though he lives alone, he does not close his home because of this, but often keeps in touch with people around him, and is a friend who can chat with supermarkets, convenience stores, and apartment buildings.

Preventing weak and making the elderly more energetic

In the above cases, the physical condition of the mother in her later years was obviously very weak. Although

is not a disease, it means that the overall muscle strength and spirit are declining with age. If the weak state reaches a certain level, it will be difficult to return to normal again, and the risk of not being able to afford the bed will also increase significantly.

The doctor pointed out that preventing weakening can start from three aspects: diet, sports and social participation, especially social participation, which can reduce the risk of depression and dementia, and avoid falling into situations that require care.

The anti-aging effects of social interaction

Studies have shown that social interaction is beneficial to brain health, and frequent gatherings, traveling, and talking with people can help reduce the risk of dementia.

In addition, activities such as cooking and table games are also helpful in preventing brain aging. Multiple steps are required to be carried out at the same time, which can effectively activate our brains. One of the symptoms of dementia is "not to do it."

Make good use of care prevention resources

With the era of high aging, "care prevention" has become more important, and we hope to allow the elderly to live independently as much as possible.

To put it simply, "care prevention" means preventing (or delay) the occurrence or malignancy of rational situations, strengthening the improvement of the physical and mental functions of the elderly, promoting their participation in social activities, and thus improving the quality of life in their later years.

The measures for care prevention in different countries are different. Commonly known as community life support, daily care services, visits and so on. Community centers usually hold various aging classes, including physical exercises, cooking, painting, espresso, etc. It is recommended that coaches make more use of these resources.

What should parents do if they don’t like to go out?

Not all bosses like to go out to socialize. At this time, children can try to change the invitation method, such as: "Someone's mother has been attending a certain event recently, which seems very fun. Will we register together next time?"

Or first understand what parents like, and then ask the staff at the local community support center if there are similar activities or courses, and maybe they have the opportunity to receive interesting services from their parents.
