MediaTek and Dafa Technology launch AI fiber optic network gateway, improving network performance by more than 30%

MediaTek, a major IC design company, and its subsidiary Dafa Technology will jointly release for the first time an edge and cloud AI optical fiber network gateway (Gateway) platform tailored for global telecom operators at the Network Dafa Technology stated that MediaTek Group chips drive more than 2 billion terminal connected devices around the world every year and have the most extensive edge AI integration advantages. The AI fiber optic network gateway will help telecom operators open up new AI service opportunities.
The seamless technological integration of MediaTek Wi-Fi 7 Filogic 680 and Dafa Technology XGS-PON AN7581 chip in 2025 achieves powerful edge AI computing capabilities. The first released AI fiber optic network gateway (Gateway) platform not only supports the three mainstream software architectures of telecom operators prplOS, RDK-B, and OpenWRT, but also uses AI to independently learn and analyze network traffic to achieve efficient management of all tasks between Wi-Fi and PON. It not only complies with the latest telecom standards to ensure interoperability, but also optimizes fiber to the home (FTTH) packet congestion, Wi-Fi Anti-interference technology can also reduce latency and increase data throughput, improve network traffic energy efficiency, and greatly enhance user experience.
Dafa Technology pointed out that MediaTek and Dafa Technology built the data analysis engine directly into the AI fiber gateway to realize telecom-specific edge AI services. Telecom operators can use AI QoE technology to instantly realize intelligent traffic classification and real-time optimization, improving users’ network experience by more than 30%. AI is also used to control fiber-to-home terminal packets to avoid congestion, and AI is used to assist Wi-Fi anti-interference capabilities to improve latency and increase data throughput. (throughput) up to 20%.
In addition, using AI algorithms, the gateway terminal can automatically perform analysis on the root cause of the network failure, significantly reducing the mean time to recover (MTTR, Mean Time To Recovery) of the equipment after a failure. 40%, and uses machine learning to learn specific network usage behaviors, such as solving high-traffic streaming video buffering, traffic allocation when downloading games, correcting interference delays in conference communications, real-time data packet anomaly warnings, etc.
Dafa Technology emphasizes that the AI optical fiber network gateway platform, which is closely integrated with Dafa Technology XGS-PON and MediaTek Wi-Fi, can support neural computing processing chips (NPUs) up to 50 TOPS. For example, with a personal AI supercomputer (Personal AI Supercomputer), users can build their own micro AI clouds in private environments. Telecom operators will be able to explore new AI service opportunities on existing fiber broadband investments.
